Once again, due to time constraints and a full legislative agenda, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives was unable to consider today Senate Bill 273, critical firearms preemption legislation. SB 273 is scheduled to be considered by the House of Representatives tomorrow, June 13. Please use this extra time to contact your state Representative in support of SB 273.

Because of the way that Clayton Baltzer sees the world, he believes this must be part of God’s plan.Still, the Grove City High School graduate now has a New York weapons charge on his record.Baltzer, 19, is a Bible-college student — a camping ministry major — and took his pocketknife to New York City on a field trip. He did not know about New York’s strict knife laws. He now has some fame among knife rights advocates because of what happened to him.
Michigan: House to Vote on Repeal of Permit-to-Purchase and Registration As Early As Tomorrow
The Michigan House of Representatives could vote on House Bill 5225 as early as tomorrow, June 13. HB 5225 is a landmark pro-gun bill that would eliminate the state handgun “permit-to-purchase” and registration requirements. HB 5225 and its amended language have already passed in the Michigan House Judiciary Committee and would require the federal standard of background checks for the purchase of handguns instead of the burdensome, unnecessary and duplicative state “permit” system.
Holder, Issa to meet about ‘Fast and Furious’ before possible contempt vote
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is expected to meet with a House committee chairman Tuesday about turning over documents that might postpone a contempt vote for the nation’s top prosecutor.
Sportsmen’s Act Amendment to be Introduced in U.S. Senate
As previously reported, H.R. 4089–the “Sportsmen’s Heritage Act of 2012″–passed the U.S. House of Representatives in April by a bipartisan vote of 274 to 146. The bill will protect and enhance opportunities for recreational hunting, fishing and shooting. H.R. 4089 was a compilation of four different bills: H.R. 1558, which amends the “Toxic Substances Control Act”; H.R. 3440, the “Recreational Shooting Protection Act”; H.R. 2834, the “Recreational Fishing and Hunting Heritage and Opportunities Act”; and H.R. 991, the “Polar Bear Conservation and Fairness Act of 2011.” We are pleased to announce that Sens. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and John Thune (R-S.D.) will be introducing similar legislation in the U.S. Senate next week as an amendment to the Senate farm bill.
